首都博物馆呈现的“玉米·黄金·美洲豹——玛雅与安第斯古代文明大展”是重磅力作。展览由“玛雅的世界”“王的宝藏”“大自然的精灵”三部分构成，集合了墨西哥、秘鲁等20多家文博机构的约800件珍贵文物。展览围绕“玉米”（生命起源）、“黄金”（神圣象征）、“美洲豹”（三界使者）这三大文化符号展开，在一万平方米的展览空间里，描绘出约三千年的古代美洲文明风貌。无论是展品数量还是合作机构规模，都创下首都博物馆历史新高。
“玛雅的世界”着重展示玛雅人观念中的宇宙结构和玛雅城邦的文化地理环境。展厅后半部分设有一座镂空的玛雅金字塔，巧妙地将展览空间与玛雅神圣空间元素融合在一起。玉米在玛雅文明中占据核心地位，展览中展示了玉米神从下界复活、神用玉米面创造人类等传说故事，并陈列了玉米生产加工的相关文物。一个陶盘上刻画着《波波尔·乌》传说：玉米神被困在下界，他的英雄双子用智慧营救父亲，最终让玉米神从大地裂缝中重生。
“王的宝藏”首次完整展示秘鲁西潘王陵遗址的考古成果，深入揭示莫切贵族的葬俗和精湛的金属工艺，其中80%的文物是首次来到中国。“大自然的精灵”所有展品均为首次来华。
